Northern Song Yunmen-house master, 潭州雲蓋繼鵬禪師. He first called on Shuangquan Ya, who made him attendant and set him the Bajiao staff story; nothing came of it for a long while, until one day, standing by as Shuangquan warmed himself at the fire, he was told to bring the staff story up for discussion — and as he began, Shuangquan jabbed at him with the fire-tongs, at which he greatly awakened. Once installed, he answered the question 'What is the great meaning of the Buddha-dharma?' with 「舌頭無骨」 — the tongue has no bone in it. He left four dharma-heirs.
