Yunju Shun 雲居曉舜

School: Yunmen | d. 1064 | Teacher: Dongshan Xiaocong | Students: Jiangshan Faquan, Kaiyuan Ying

Northern Song Yunmen-house master, known as Yunju Shun 雲居舜 and also as Dayu Xiaoshun of Yunzhou. A native of Ruizhou, surname Hu 胡; a dharma-heir of Dongshan Xiaocong. The records praise his plain directness — he trimmed the lamps and swept the floors himself rather than delegate. He led Qixian monastery on Mt. Lu, where he had a reputation for purity, then Jingyin monastery in the capital, where Emperor Renzong praised him: 「道韻奇偉,山林達士」 (his way-resonance is remarkable — an accomplished man of the mountains and forests). Late in life he went to Yunju in Nankang. He left several heirs.
