Surname Wang, from Danling in Meizhou. Ordained at Dali cloister in 1023. On pilgrimage met Beita [Siguang] and 'awakened the heart-essentials, attained the samadhi of ease'. Made a loincloth inscribed with the names of successive patriarchs, earning the epithet 'Hao of the inscribed loincloth'. Zhang Shangying sponsored his opening of teaching at Junzhou Dayang, later moved to Jingnan Yuquan. Zhang wrote his stupa inscription after death.
