Song Chan master of Ayuwang in Mingzhou, a dharma heir of Shan of Fuchang. Known from exchanges on 'the within-within' ('atop Golden River peak') and 'the without-without' ('before the Prajna hall'), and a sermon distinguishing the upward phrase, the downward phrase, and the phrase that touches neither road: 'know it, and the crown of your head vents breath; miss it, and a clay ox ploughs a stone field.'
