Prominent Northern Song Yunmen-school monk, Ningbo Ayuwang (King Ashoka monastery) Dajue Huailian. Known for literary skill; studied under Huaicheng for over a decade. Later abbot of Dongjing Jingyin by imperial decree (1050), given title 'Dajue Chanshi'. Then invited to head Ayuwang for 20 years. Su Shi wrote his stupa inscription. Author of the 'Miaodao pian', which aimed to harmonize the Three Teachings.
