From Neijiang (surname Li, mother Yao), born at midnight on the 15th of the 10th month of 1610. Tonsured in infancy under Qingran of Guzi mountain, he was set going by the Lotus line 'even one raised hand, even one small bow of the head, all complete the Buddha-way' — 'is becoming a Buddha as easy as that?' Hearing that Poshan Haiming had brought the Jinsu robe and bowl into Shu, he came out of his hermitage to him, and after Tiantong, where the sound of the board opened him through, Poshan sealed him. He opened Yumen at Niushan, Jingming at Hanzhong, Caotang at Baoning and rebuilt Zhaojue in Chengdu at seventy-six; he compiled the Jinjiang chandeng. He died on the 26th of the 12th month of 1695 (Jan 1696), aged 86.
