常州正勤院蘊禪師, lay surname 韓 of Weifu; ordained young and said to have kept a youthful face into old age. Caodong master, dharma heir of Shushan Kuangren (himself an heir of Dongshan Liangjie). Asked 「如何是禪？」he answered 「石上蓮華火裏泉」; asked 「如何是道？」— 「楞伽峰頂一莖草」; asked how far apart Chan and the Way stand — 「泥人落水木人撈」. He died peacefully in the Jin Tianfu era; two years after burial his disciples opened the stupa and found the body intact with hair and nails grown, whereupon they cremated him and re-enshrined the relics.
