Heir of Xianglin Chengyuan, both from Sichuan. Teacher of Xuedou Chongxian, whom he awakened with two blows of a fly whisk. Xuedou stayed five years and later compiled Zhimen's discourse record. Key link transmitting the Yunmen school to its greatest poet.
