Of the He 何 family of Tongchuan in Chengdu. Dharma name Chaochuan 超船, sobriquet Zizhou. Born in the hour of chen on the sixteenth of the third month of 1619. Dharma heir of Eryin Mi, thirty-sixth generation below Nanyue. He was abbot at Tanxi in Xiangyang and at Lumen. Zhang Lian, who wrote the preface to his record, describes climbing Lianhua peak in 1642 to see Eryin at Lianxin hermitage and talking with him till dawn — 'truly kin in the dharma across the generations'.
